Welcome to the new SynthFan website

SynthFan.info is on the move and as you can see its changed a bit. I’ve decided to move the site away from GoDaddy’s Quick Blogcast service and instead use the WordPress blogging environment to manage the website. This time hosted on my own company server and outside the GoDaddy network.

My main motivation for this move is because I’ve recently had a very disappointing experience with GoDaddy’s hosting services; for more than a week my virtual company server was more down than up (totally unresponsive although nothing was running on it at the time), resulting in setting up several other servers elsewhere.

The second reason: WordPress. I’ve heard many good stories about this environment and because my blog is the main section which is ‘powering’ the website (at least for now) I figured it should make my live a whole lot easier. The move itself was triggered by an increasing unhappiness with GoDaddy’s Website Tonight. Its no fun to edit a webpage by having to click several floating control panels away because they’re hovering above the section you’re trying to edit. I’m through with it, no more; it was fun while it lasted.

A website on the move!

For now I’m maintaining both sites and have added links which allow you to navigate between the two of them. I still have a lot to do; although the blog is functional I also want to transfer all my webpages. I already managed to copy the contents, now all that’s left is to change the layout.

About the website

This website is aimed at synthesizers. In particular focused on the gear I picked up and really got to appreciate. Here I’m planning to share my experiences, failures, successes as well as several hints and tips.

For example; on the ‘M4L Patches’ page you can check up on some of the stuff I’ve created with Max for Live, and if you like what you see you can also download it. Another example is my ‘Downloads’ page; here I’m planning to put up some of the audio and preset material(s) I’ve made using either Ableton Live or Reason.

Of course in the end I hope all this might be useful for some people out there. But most of all I hope it will be fun. Because in the end I strongly believe that having fun is what its all about…
